Important Info from the School Office

  • Wednesday, June 26 is the last day of school. Dismissal will be at 11:30am.
  • Report cards will be distributed on that day.
  • Summer reading contracts for current 6th and 7th grades are going home on Tuesday. Please check your student's backpack so you can understand summer reading expectations. And remember... all students MUST bring their summer reading books or a photo of their books on the first day of school.
  • The first day of school of the new year is Thursday, September 5.
  • Classroom and Advisory assignments will be made on the first day of school and not before - so PLEASE do not call or email the office to inquire!

SoulCycle Benefit Ride is TONITE, Thurs. June 20 – A Few Bikes Remain!

Our SoulCycle Benefit Ride is TONITE, Thurs. June 20 at 6pm. A limited number of bikes are still available. If you have not yet purchased tickets on EventBrite, you may bring cash or check, payable to MS 297 PTA.

Join us at the West Village Studio, 126 Leroy St., corner of Greenwich St. at 5:30-5:45pm to get set up. Shoes and water will be provided. The ride starts at 6:00pm and lasts 45 minutes. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Yearbooks Coming TOMORROW. Buy Yours NOW!

Yearbooks will be handed out to students in Advisory tomorrow. The cost is $20 per book. Buy yours here NOW - and consider buying multiple books to underwrite the cost for other students.

Write Emails TODAY to Local Elected Officials for More Afterschool Seats

We need your help to get 125 new afterschool seats for our children! Write an email today to your local elected officials. We need emails from 50 – 100 families. So far, just 20 of you have written. 

At present, we have 200 seats to serve the 569 students in the school. Next year, we will have 330 new children – but the City has not increased our afterschool seats. Unless we put political pressure on our elected officials, we are unlikely to get additional seats. The result will be much larger classes, fewer offerings, and the likelihood that your child will be shut out of their preferred afterschool activities. Plus, with more after-school seats, Manhattan Youth will be able to focus on adding enrichment classes.

  • Consider volunteering as a Parent Ambassador. This team will offer an added layer of welcome, information, referral and resources to new families, especially those who might be new to the community. Please contact Jill Bennett at jill@75morton.org if you're interested.
  • A huge thank you to Sean and Elaine Cunningham for hosting our 'Mix & Mingle' at Brass Monkey on Monday. We had a tremendous turn-out - and a terrific vibe, as parents, teachers and friends celebrated the end of the school year and kicked off the summer.
  • heartfelt thanks to the amazing 75 Morton teachers and staff for an incredible year. Your dedication to educating and supporting our kids inspires us each and every day. We hope you enjoy the lunch we're sending over on Wednesday. It's the least we can do to say THANK YOU!!!
  • Look for our Summer Mailer in mid-August with important back-to-school info and a PTA survey on how you can get involved in our committees, events and activities next year!
  • First PTA meeting of the new school year is Wed., September 18 at 8:45am. (Of course, we had to remind you;) Happy Summer!

Community Corner: Free Filmmaking Workshop Sat. June 22

  • Take Two Talks: Filmmaking A-Z. FREE. Come see how scripts, cameras, special effects and music all come together to make a movie. Kids will get to try their hand at all elements of filmmaking in this interactive demonstration. Saturday, June 22, 10:30am - 12:00pm, PS 340, 64 West 17th St. Space is limited, RSVP HERE
