Final PTA Meeting Wed. June 12, 8:45am + SLT Candidates' Statements

You are cordially invited to attend the final Parent Teacher Association meeting of this school year. Whether you’re a veteran or a newcomer, this is your last chance! Come enjoy free coffee, bagels and yogurt shots!

Our agenda this month includes:

  • Election of our 2019-20 PTA Executive Board & School Leadership Team (SLT)*
  • Vote on proposed 2019-20 PTA Budget
  • plus updates from Jacqui on hiring and enrollment and what to expect next year!

*Please note that the election of our SLT members is contested, as we have 7 candidates for 3 available positions. We are making available these CANDIDATES' STATEMENTS to aid in your deliberations. The Chancellor’s Regulations specify that "elections be conducted in a free, fair, and inclusive manner, providing an opportunity for the full participation of all members. No undue pressure or coercion may be exercised by anyone." You may not use email addresses or phone numbers provided by the PTA to contact other members in an effort to campaign or to hear from nominees directly.

We encourage you to attend the meeting on June 12 to VOTE!

High School Admissions Workshop Mon. June 3 + Important New Info

7th grade families, please join us for a High School Admissions Workshop on Monday June 3 at 8:45am in the Library. Jacqui, Jill, Katie & Ilene will discuss the admissions process and timeline.

If you have specific questions, we encourage you to submit them in advance to Jill at jill@75morton.org.

Also, check out this SCHEDULE of upcoming DOE High School Admissions Family Workshops – the Manhattan edition is on Wed. June 5, at different times throughout the afternoon.

We also encourage you to check out the new HIGH SCHOOL INFO page on our website – it's chock full of useful info.

To register for the online High School database, you may PHONE the DOE at 718-935-2200, provide your Student’s ID # and receive an Account Creation Code. You can then use that code to create an account at MySchools.nyc, which allows you to access the online database of NYC High Schools. PTA Comes Through for our Music Program – Thank You!

Thanks to the generous support of our families, our PTA has purchased instruments and audio equipment to enrich our Music and Drama programs. A huge shout-out to Rob Youngberg (dad of Sam & Logan, 7th Grade) and Walter Usiatynski (dad of Marek, 6th Grade) who have been volunteering their time in support of our Music program!  Rob helped set up our new drum set and led two lunchtime "Master Classes" with students. Walter helped set up a wonderful sound design for our Chorus and for months has been taking the lead on ordering and designing a new sound system for our Gymatorium. Thank You Rob and Walter! And thank you to ALL of you families for supporting the Arts at 75 Morton!
