4TH GRADE 5K RUN

Congratulations to Woody S. for coming in 1st place citywide!  The other top four Alamo finishers for the 5k are Ethan N., Graham D., Callan M., and Kaito G.

RAFFLE AND AUCTION GRATITUDE

Thank you to all the parents and children who sold raffle tickets, donated auction items, participated in the online auction, and came out for the gala on Friday, April 26.  Our collective hard work and dedication allowed us to significantly surpass previous years and bring in more than $100k for our wonderful enrichment programs.  We were absolutely blown away by our children who raised $43k in the raffle alone, crushing their $30k goal!

As a community, we need to give a huge thank you to the moms who put in all the hard work on our record-breakingly successful and fantastically fun auction and raffle! If you see these ladies, please give them a warm and sincere thank you for the efforts they made this year in their successful fundraisers and party!

Thank you to our Auction Chairs: Tejal Patel, Tatyana Boone and Tasia Neeve!

Thank you to our Raffle Chairs: Vanessa Thomas and Lily Wong!

And thank you to our online auction chair and raffle spreadsheet expert: Christine Ko!

Next year our students will benefit from all their efforts! This will include funds from our paddle raise, which raised enough money for a new Chromebook cart filled with 40 Chromebooks!

2019 ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE AWARD

Alamo was one of the four schools recognized by the SF Department of the Environment for their efforts and received the 2019 Environmental School Education Award!  On May 6, 12 Alamo students (Mehdi G., Samuel C., Sydney C., Caden H., Emily W., Jessica W., Kristina K., Maddux S., Samuel B., Caprice T., Blossom B., and Michael K.) along with Principal Fong, Ms. Bekkah, Ms. Mary, Mr. Eduardo, and Ms. Ivy represented our school at a special award ceremony at City Hall for our efforts to be green in the cafeteria and in the garden.   Our youth represent our future and are leading the next generation towards sustainability -- through recycling & composting monitors, experiencing nature through school gardens and establishing student-led sustainability positions at school.

A YEAR IN REVIEW

Halloween Carnival - We continued our long-standing tradition at Alamo celebrating Halloween with a costume parade around the block followed by our Carnival.

Friendship Chorus - Throughout the year, Alamo's chorus entertained us with their performances: Friendship Friday, Sweet Sounds of the Holidays at Alamo, Grandparents & Special Friends Day, and Imagination

Family Coding Night - We had our first family coding night to celebrate Computer Science Education Week with 6 different coding activities that kept our students engaged all evening.

Alamo Community of Sharing - Alamo community came together and helped provide healthy bags of groceries and small gifts to Alamo families during the holiday season at Thanksgiving break and again before winter break.

Alamo Day at the Food Bank - 60 Alamo parents and children volunteered at the San Francisco Food Bank.  All together the group processed almost 2,000 pounds of rice and pasta, enough to feed 2,000 families.

Talent Show - Student dancers, singers, musicians, athletes and artists wowed us with their talents!

Science Fair - Over 90 budding scientists displayed their projects and experiments - once again, the science fair showed off Alamo students' curiosity and ingenuity.
