7th Grade i2 Learning Showcase May 24 | 6th Grade (class 621 only) Silk Road May 17

7th grade families, please join us on Friday, May 24 from 1:20 - 3:00pm in the Gym for a showcase of Kinetic Sculpture projects developed by students during i2 Learning STEM Week. This is a chance for students to celebrate the work they will have done during the week with friends, family members and the broader community.

i2 Learning STEM Week is an innovative, hands-on learning experience in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) being piloted for our 7th graders from May 20 - 24. During this week, regularly scheduled classes will be replaced by 20-25 hours of hands-on STEM curriculum developed in partnership with MIT. Over the five days, 7th grade classrooms will participate in Kinetic Sculpture. Teachers and students will work in teams to solve real-world problems in a classroom where hands-on experimentation, critical thinking, and even failure, will be encouraged and used as a teaching technique to engage and inspire students. Teachers will focus on developing 21st century skills such as interdisciplinary problem solving, perseverance, and collaboration.

Please join us in the Gym on May 24 from 1:20-3:00pm to celebrate our week of STEM fun!

For 6th graders, families of class 621 students are invited to attend a showcase this Friday, May 17, from noon - 1pm in the Library. As part of a collaboration with Pier55, class 621 has worked with two wonderful teaching artists during its Silk Road unit. They have explored different media to create pieces that reflect various themes. Students LOVED making clay figures, working with copper, exploring stop motion videos on iPads, and making dramatic costumes for the Islam origin story tableaus...  621 families, please join us for this fun celebration!
