Grants at Work!

Teachers, staff, family members and students may submit grant proposals to the Grants Chair for review by the FFO Executive Board by visiting sunriseffo.org/grants or emailing grants@sunriseffo.org.

Approved Grants

When: Deadline to purchase a yearbook for $25 is THIS Friday, April 19

How: Time is running out to buy a yearbook for your student! To purchase a yearbook, click the "Shop in Our Store" button above . If you are not sure if you have already purchased a yearbook, click “Your Account” and choose “Your Purchases.” While a limited number of extra yearbooks will be available, the price goes up to $30 after April 19th and are only available on a first come, first served basis.

Book Fair

Why: It’s the Scholastic Summer Reading Stock-Up Sale! Kids who read this summer will be more successful when school starts next fall, so stock up on books for summer. Sunrise Drive will receive 70% in book profits from the sales.

Who: 5th Graders

When: Order by June 15 for best pricing and free shipping.

Why: Everything your student needs for 6th Grade at Orange Grove Middle School comes in an EduKit. The box is customized per teachers' requests and is available for pick-up at registration in the Fall.

Bus Driver Appreciation

Who: Bus riders

When: Thursday, April 18 deadline

How: Bus riders enthusiastically signed cards for each of the school bus drivers earlier this week and will be doing so again on the morning of Thursday, April 18. If your student would like to send an additional thank you note, please drop it off in the mail box in the front office by this Thursday morning. The students’ heartfelt appreciation will be presented at an upcoming school district celebration for bus drivers. 

"Fun in the Sun" Teacher Appreciation Week

When: May 6-10, see below for daily volunteer opportunities 

Why: Sunrise Drive Elementary Teachers are SUNSATIONAL

How: Each day, snacks will be provided in the teachers’ lounge. Volunteer to bring a snack/item and/or participate in one of the following ways: 

  • Monday, May 6, Summer Flower Power: Bring your teacher’s favorite flower.
  • Tuesday, May 7, Summer Reading Fun: Purchase a book from your teacher’s wish list basket at the Book Fair! 
  • Wednesday May 8, Lei Back & Relax Pampering Day: Send your student to class with an item from the “favorite items” list located at the front desk or your favorite pampering item. 
  • Thursday, May 9, Soak It Up Sun-sational Beach Day: Give your teacher a favorite summer or beach must-have (nail polish, lip gloss, snack, beach game, book).
  • Friday, May 10, “You’re a Lifesaver” Thank You Note Day: A heartfelt note, letter, card or message of appreciation says it all!

Chinese Immersion Summer Programs

Summer is almost here! Immersion students can keep up their Mandarin skills at these two summer camps: 

Chinese Star Camp: the UA’s Confucius Institute hosts two one-week camps from June 3 to June 14, 2019 at the Tucson Chinese Cultural Center. Volunteers are needed for the Chinese Immersion booth at Meet Your Teacher in August. Support the immersion program by volunteering for an hour at our MYT table. Please let us know if you can help!

New Sunrise Drive Water Bottles

Sunrise Water BottleThe school recently replaced its traditional drinking fountains with new water bottle dispensing fountains that have filtered water. 

The FFO is offering water bottles for sale in honor of the new fountains. For $10, your student can show a little school spirit and stay hydrated! Purchases can be made by clicking the "Shop in Our Store" button below. All purchases will be delivered to your student’s homeroom class.
