March 18, 2019

Dear Families,

I have Wednesday, March 20, at 5:58 p.m. marked on my calendar. The first day of SPRING. I cannot wait to smell and feel Spring air. I love watching the students shed their jackets and start asking about recess when they enter the building. Their eagerness to be outside, to move around in warmth and to release the energy of winter is REAL.

I wish they had larger spaces to run, and more time to do so. The NYS Tests arrive just as Spring Fever sets in. It makes me sad that the pressures of our educational system make it impossible to play more - and to stress less.

But as the Spring weather lifts all of us up a bit in our step, can we please make sure our children are having fun? NYC has so many green spaces, free activities, and places to go. Please explore the city for part of the weekend with your children - introduce them to new neighborhoods, new boroughs, new sights, and sounds, and smells. They need to grow outside of school in this beautiful (almost here) weather.

I am committing to exploring two new NYC places a month starting in April - it is so important to take advantage of Spring!

With Respect,

Jacqui
