Holiday Toy Drive Next Week: Collecting Unopened Gifts for Kids in Need

Coming up next week we will be collecting new, unopened toys for local children in need and New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. Relatives bought too many gifts for your NYC apartment? Have duplicates? Drop them off at the PTA office or better yet, bring them with you to Movie Night on Friday! Have used toys you want to donate? You can drop them off at your neighborhood Goodwill

First Morton Movie Night: Fri. Jan. 11 - Send the Kids or Bring the Family!

Our first ever Morton Movie Night is next Fri. Jan. 11, from 6 - 9pm in the Cafeteria. It's a FREE community event. You can send your kid(s) on their own – or bring the whole family! We'll provide pizza & popcorn. You provide your own blankets & pillows. Get cozy for a screening of The Karate Kid (the 2010 version with Jaden Smith & Taraji Henson, of course;).

Suggested Donation is a new, unopened, unused toy or game – to be donated to local children in need (see above).

Please use the sign-up button below to RSVP - so we can get a headcount for the pizza! - and to volunteer as a chaperone.

New Arrival Protocol Start Monday, Jan. 7

Starting this Mon., Jan. 7, the doors to the school will open at 8:25am, and we will  be starting entry swiping for all students (using the CAASS machine system). ID cards for 6th graders are being distributed today (7th graders already have them).

It is imperative that all students bring their ID cards with them everyday and that they keep the card in a safe, accessible place in their backpack.

All students will enter through the Morton St. entrance. Those students who eat School Breakfast (not a bagel from the cart guy;) may enter starting at 8:10am through the Barrow St. entrance (please note this is a change from previous plan of entering through Greenwich St.)

Advisory starts promptly at 8:40am. If your child arrives after that time, they are officially late to school, and will be issued a late pass.

As with all things new, as we start swiping in 560 students each morning, we anticipate there will be some necessary tweaking while we streamline the process. We ask for your patience.

Please note: Out-Lunch for 6th graders will start on Tues., Jan. 22. More information to follow.

If you have any questions, please contact Jill Bennett, Parent Coordinator, by email at jill@75morton.org

Community Dinners Start Thurs., Jan. 10 - Save the Date for Yours!

At long last. Community Dinners - our parent potlucks by Advisory groups - start next Thurs, Jan. 10. Please make a point of attending - we want to see you ALL there! And if you miss it, you won't get to play the "Morton Mingle"...

You will receive a Google doc about a week before your dinner so you can RSVP and sign up to bring your favorite dish. We'll dine in our beautiful Library, from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Enjoy conversation with fellow parents, advisors, Jacqui and staff!

The Library is Open, Ladies & Gentlemen...

Come visit us in the library, we are ready for you!  Please find the JANUARY schedule below. Once we get a feel for how things are working with our all-volunteer librarians, we will open up more hours during the day. Thank you to all the volunteers who are working hard to staff our amazing library. For now we are capping the number of students at 20 at a time, so it’s first come, first served. Please pick up your library passes in the school office and present to the librarian upon entering the library.

Before School: Tuesdays and Fridays, Opens at 8:25am

During Recess: Mondays and Wednesdays

If We Don't Find a Parent to Lead our Yearbook, We Won't Have One!

That's right, people! We need your help. Our Yearbook is behind schedule, and we're looking for a parent to step up. Manhattan Youth will offer a Yearbook class, starting NEXT trimester, staffed by teacher Brian Curry-Hartmann. But we need a parent to be the linchpin to guide and support their efforts. It's not a time-consuming task, as we use a simple content management/publishing co., Picaboo Yearbooks, that allows you to plug photos into templates. Please help! Don't let the year end without a yearbook...
