  • 1/20, Sunday 9-11 am Alamo Community volunteers at the SF Food Bank -RSVP required
  • 1/21, Monday School closed, Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday

GARDEN MURAL HELP

Ms. Bekkah needs some (adult) volunteers to help her outline a mural for the 4th and 5th graders to paint in the New Year. She would greatly appreciate any time you could spare.

Here are the remaining dates and times she'll be working on the yard:

Wednesday 12/19, 3-5 pm

Friday 12/21, 7:30 am - 5 pm

If you can help please let her know if and when you can come and help, so she know to expect you. Email Bekkah.

SPIRT DAY on FRIDAY

Wear your favorite festive or holiday clothing to school for Spirit Day!!


CHINESE NEW YEAR PARADE PARTICIPANTS NEEDED

The Parade Commission allows only 50 Alamo students in the parade. Given the high level of energy and commitment, only 2nd through 5th graders will be allowed to participate. Students are expected to commit to weekly after school rehearsals beginning in January. The parade takes place on Saturday, February 23, 2019, rain or shine. COMBINED JANUARY/FEBRUARY ALAMO MATTERS

We resume the school year on Monday, January 7, 2019. Due to later than usual start and the number of holidays in January and February, we decided to combine the January and February monthly newsletter. Our goal will be to send it out toward the latter part of January. Gator Weekly will stay on its normal schedule and will resume on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. If you wish to include something for Alamo Matters or Gator Weekly, the link to the form is at the very bottom of this newsletter.



NIGHT OUT AT THE RICHMOND REPUBLIC

Enjoy dinner or drinks at Richmond Republic, 642 Clement Street on Monday, January 14th starting at 5pm. The upstairs is reserved for Alamo and 50% of proceeds go to the school. Come out and enjoy your Alamo friends, eat good food, and raise money for Alamo.

ALAMO WORKS THE FOOD BANK

Alamo volunteers at the SF Food bank on Sunday, 1/20 from 9-11 am. The Sunday before Martin Luther King Day is a great day for service. Kids 4 and up are welcome. Sign up on MySchoolAnywhere. Please email Karin with any questions. [Signups_Text_Link]


ALAMO SPELLATHON

SPELLATHON. The Alamo Spellathon will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019. We are looking to each and every one of you to help drive in getting pledges to help Alamo raise money towards field trips and books for the classroom. Classrooms with 100% participation will earn a reward assembly. Top earners will get their choice of Alamo gear or movie tickets. 


 BOX TOPS for EDUCATION

Since August, your Box Tops contributions have earned Alamo $220! Please keep dropping Box Tops off in the office. Thanks!!

2019-2020 KINDERGARTEN AND 6TH GRADE ENROLLMENT REMINDER

The final day to drop off SFUSD applications for incoming Kindergarten siblings and rising 6th Graders is Friday, January 11 - right after we return from Winter Break. Please get your application in early!


FAMILY CODE NIGHT FEEDBACK

Our computer teacher, Mr. Peery, would still love to have additional feedback on how you thought the evening went. Here's the link to his short feedback form. Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts so next year's event could be even better!

We've raised $36,000 so far! Thank you to all who have contributed so far. Remember, these funds support Alamo's school garden program, literacy, music and art and more! CENTRAL RICHMOND TRAFFIC SAFETY PROJECT: SFMTA is hosting a Town Hall meeting on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 6pm to give community members an opportunity to see and discuss proposed design improvements around traffic safety in the neighborhood.
