Evening PTA Meeting: Wed. Nov. 14, 6:15pm in Cafeteria

We've got free sandwiches & beverages. Plus pizza for any kids who need to come! Wed., Nov. 14 at 6:15pm - in the evening! 

Please join us for a Special Election to fill an Executive Board position of co-2nd Vice President. Nominations will be taken from the floor, followed by voting. The Vice President is expected to attend monthly Executive Board meetings, general PTA meetings and serve as a liaison to at least one committee, initiative or special event.

Other highlights:

  • Jacqui responding to questions you have submitted (recess, D75 school, JumpRope, out-lunch, etc.)
  • Lost & Found racks for you to sort through (you might find something you've been missing;)
  • Collection of spare change or dollar bills you may want to contribute to our Teachers' Lounge Coffee Fund

It's one of just two evening meetings all year. Please come. All are welcome!

FREE Community Event: Pie & Cider Open House Fri. Nov. 15, 4 - 7pm, Cafeteria

Please stop by our first annual Friends-Giving Pie & Cider Open House. Bring the whole family, meet new friends and enjoy yummy pie and cider. Drop by the cafeteria anytime on Friday, Nov. 16 from 4 - 7pm. It's FREE! Please note, this is not a drop-off event. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult or guardian.

Want to donate a pie but don’t have the time? You can purchase a pie or cider (or both) and we will place the order for you It’s as easy as pie! Just make your purchase by this Sunday, November 11. Best part - all leftover pies and cider will be donated to a local soup kitchen so no food will go to waste! The more pies, the better:

Coat & Warm Clothing Drive Now Thru Nov. 14

We are offering a Coat & Warm Clothing Drive this week and next for children in grades 6 and 7 whose families are experiencing financial challenges. You can leave your donations in boxes in the vestibule of our lobby anytime now through next Wed. 11/14 - you can even drop off at the PTA meeting on Wed. eve! 

We are looking for new or very gently used jackets, coats, hoodies, sweatshirts, sweaters, long pants, long sleeved shirts, Winter boots and NEW unworn socks and underwear.

Printed Student Directory Coming Soon.. Last Chance to Confirm Your Info!

Your printed student directory will be distributed during Student Led Conferences. You have until Wed. 11/14 to make sure your family is listed exactly the way you wish. If you have not done so already, please take a moment to confirm your info by clicking on this button:

You can review and add to your address(es), phone number(s), email(s), etc. and choose what info you want listed in the printed directory. The directory is a super handy way for kids and parents or guardians to connect with each other!

CECD2 Panel on Proposed Changes to HS Admissions: Mon. 12/3 at 6:30pm

The Community Education Council for District 2 (our School Board) will be holding a public meeting to address proposed changes to admissions for specialized high schools. The program will include a presentation from the DOE on the Mayor's Proposal, which will be going up for a vote in January '19. 

The meeting will take place at The Clinton School, 10 East 15th Street (remember that one?) on Mon. December 3rd at 6:30pm. It should last 2 hours.

Announcements & Reminders

  • Seeking an accountant. The PTA is seeking an accountant to prepare our tax return. Ideally, this would be a parent, guardian or ‘friend of the family’ willing to donate their services. Please contact Bob at pta@75morton.org.
  • Out-lunch for 7th graders. Starts Mon. 11/19. Look for email from Jacqui in the coming days with link to Google permission slip and attached out-lunch map. Plan is to start out-lunch for 6th graders in January.
  • Student Led Conferences 11/ 27 & 28. Evening conferences on Tues. 11/27 will run from 5 – 7:30pm. Wed. 11/28 will be a half-day of school, with dismissal at 11:30am, followed by afternoon conferences from 1 – 3pm. Advisors will contact you to schedule and, if you cannot be accommodated during these times, will find an alternate time.
  • Java with Jacqui & Jill. On Fri. 11/30 from 8:30-10am in the Cafeteria, Jacqui and parent coordinator Jill Bennett will host the first 'Java with Jacqui & Jill' of the year. The topic? Social Media/Digital Citizenship presented by Michelle Lipkin, Executive Director of The National Association of Media Literacy Education. A must for all parents/guardians of adolescents!
  • JumpRope. As we transition to our new online grading system, please be patient with any glitches or inaccuracies. If you notice anything that looks amiss, feel free to reach out to your student’s advisor. Please note that JumpRope attendance is not used for the purpose of HS admissions.
  • Blue Cards & Medicaid Forms. If you received a blue card and/or Medicaid form, PLEASE complete and return to Tiffany in the school office ASAP. You can also send in with your student’s homework folder and ask them to deliver to their advisor! Thank you.
