Dear Families,

First a couple of announcements:

  1. Please fill out the COMMUNITY BUILDER SURVEY by tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9pm. We want to know what kinds of events and activities you all want - to build our school  culture and community. We are really hoping for many responses! Just CLICK HERE.

  2. I hope you have your calendars marked for the BOWL-A-THON on Sat., Nov. 10, from 4-6pm. We’ve got a full crew of 70+ bowlers - but we’re still looking for more PLEDGES! Please PLEDGE HERE to sponsor a parent/guardian, staff member, or student! Or you can come and be a spectator! I’ll be there along with many other staff members - come and cheer us on!

Here’s what I wrote to the staff about Fright Night - the terrific Halloween Dance last Thursday!

OK, picture this...breakdancing Power Rangers, human cotton candy, sushi, ghosts, Victorian ladies, and the most adorable middle school behavior possible! Over 400 students showed up and there were NO ISSUES! In fact, when I announced the costume competition, and the DJ was silenced and the smoke machine turned off - 400 kiddies sat down and listened - in the middle of their pizza, juice, giggling, cupcake, dancing frenzy. If only our school Town Halls were so easy! You would have been very impressed. And our families did an amazing job decorating and providing all of the goodies - not to mention a billion chaperones.

I think that aptly describes the night - don’t you?  Thank you to everyone who helped with chaperoning, decorations, DJ, fog machines, yummy treats, pizza, patience, energy, smiles and, most of all, caring this much for our children.

I am so impressed by our community. The dance brought us together and offered a free, safe event where our children could socialize. It was also the first dance in our new building - the first of many! As we stretch out into our space, we will find more and more ways to host events to gather friends and families and to celebrate the many voices of our school (so fill out that SURVEY!).

And one more thing… This Sunday was The One Run 5K - Congratulations to the 75 Morton Team! It was a beautiful morning - and we had a terrific turn-out… plus we raised $2,050.73 for the school! Thank you to everyone involved. Not bad for our first time out of the gate!

With Respect,
