Upcoming Events

Band Instrument Petting Zoo
Join Mrs. Kielmeyer and her instrument ambassadors in the auditorium September 6th from 3:30-4:30 to learn about instruments of the Polaris band. Third-fifth grade students can hold and play flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trumpet, trombone, baritone, snare drum and orchestra bells. Parents are encouraged to attend, but if a parent cannot attend, students can bring a signed permission slip with them to the event. Permission slips are available in the music room and can be downloaded here. More information about the program can be found here. 

PTO Meeting September 10th, 6:00pm
Join us for our first PTO meeting of the year! Free child care will be available in the gym while we meet in the Library (please enter the school through the library doors, off Glenarm near the Pickup Patio).

This month's agenda items include, but are not limited to:

  • Update on the My School Anywhere communication platform
  • PTO Volunteer Opportunities
  • Planning update for Jogathon 2018

There will also be time reserved at the top of the meeting for community members to voice ideas and feedback. Please come and participate in the conversation on how we can best serve our community through fundraising and community building!

Come socialize with other parents, talk with teachers and the principal, nosh on light apps and treats, and to learn more about how you can support our fabulous school. Community Dinners Coordinator

Help Us Fund The Gap
The Polaris administration collaborates with the PTO to fund the $130,000 funding gap. These funds provide paras, Friday Electives, STEAM, Specials and more.
Here are the ways you can give:

- Purchase Polaris gear/donate cash using My School Anywhere
- Checks dropped to main office/mailed to: Polaris PTO, 410 Park Ave W, Denver CO 80205.

Boxtops Drop-Off in Main Office
If you have been collecting Boxtops for Education coupons on merchandise, please have your child bring them into school and turn them into the collection box in the front office. Our first submission deadline will be on Oct 31. Thanks! 

Community Projects and Products

New Art Display Coming Soon
Ms. Rogers will be cultivating a new student art gallery wall. She is looking to collect picture frames (MINIMAL size of 14"x14" - but the bigger the better!) and needs just the frame - no glass or backing/matting. Frames will permanently hang in the atrium, and student art will rotate so that every Polaris student will have his/her art displayed at one point during the year. *Please consider donating old frames, or if you happen to be thrift store shopping, pick up an extra frame for cheap! Please drop off frames in the art room - Thank you!

Thank You For Joining Us
We had a great turnout for Curriculum Night last week.  Both teachers and staff are thrilled to have had the opportunity to talk with you about all that will go on during your child's day at Polaris.  Another thanks to all the parents who joined up at the Horseshoe Lounge afterward.  It's great to see both children and adults coming together to build a stronger Polaris community.

Did You Know?

Farewell Ms. Pamela Wall
You may not know, but our amazing secretary, Pamela Wall, has worked two other jobs in addition to Polaris for some time now. At one of those jobs, she has been offered a promotion to a manager/marketing/project manager position. The upward mobility for this position means great things for her career! While we are happy for her, we are sad for Polaris. She has been an invaluable asset. She will be with us for the next two weeks, so please stop by to let her know how much you’ve appreciated her dedication to our students and to wish her well. Best of luck, Ms. Wall!

Come Meet The Neighbors in Benedict Park!
Join City Councilmen Albus Brooks & Wayne New, District 9/10 for an Uptown / Swallow Hill / North Capitol Hill neighborhood BBQ at Benedict Park on September 8 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm. There will be community police officers, local businesses, music and activities for dogs and children. Free drinks and food by Yahoo BBQ. See you there!
