Curriculum Night
Please plan to join us on Thursday, August 30 at 6:00 for Curriculum Night (adults only), where you will learn all the nuts and bolts about your child’s classroom. To accommodate families with more than one child, we will have two sessions: 6-6:30 and 6:30-7:00. Both presentations will be the same. 

Grade Level Parent Socials
These are casual adults-only gatherings coming up in September. Come mingle with other Polaris parents, talk with Polaris teachers and principal, nosh on light appetizers and treats, and to learn more about Polaris and how you can support our school. More info in the weeks to come, but schedule your sitter now, as you won't want to miss these! An email invite will be sent to your primary email soon.

Seeking Graphic Designer
Seeking a graphic designer than can spare a few design-time hours creating a quick logo for the PTO Corporate Sponsorship Program. Polaris PTO Needs YOU
Our programming would not be possible without the fabulous volunteers whose time and dedication make Polaris events and programs successful and meaningful. We invite YOU to join and participate in the Polaris PTO this year. Whether you have 30 minutes or 30 hours to give, your help is greatly appreciated by our school community.
Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to:

If you would like to get involved in a fun event, this is the place for you! We are still organizing and have lots of volunteer slots available. We will have a committee meeting on Tuesday, August 28th at 5:30 PM at St. Marks Coffee House, 2019 E 17th Ave. Please RSVP if you are able to attend! Staff Appreciation Team
Looking for an easy, fun way to get involved at Polaris? Every month our community provides our wonderful staff with a meal. Half of the meals are sponsored by a single grade, and the remainder of the meals are sponsored by the Staff Appreciation Team. We also help support Teacher Appreciation Week in May, as well as other things that pop up throughout the year.

The first staff appreciation meal will be Sept. 12th and hosted by the 5th grade families. Room parents will circulate a sign-up as the date gets closer.

The Polaris administration collaborates with the PTO to fund the $130,000 funding gap. These funds provide paras, Friday Electives, STEAM, Specials and more.

Cool New Polaris Gear 
Want a simple way to support Polaris and show school spirit at the same time? Polaris t-shirts, baseball tees or hoodies are available this year, in both kid and adult sizing. Items will be available for sale periodically throughout the year at school events. If you missed us at the Meet & Greet, contact polarisptofundraising@gmail.com to order. Re-loadable Grocery Cards 
Easy Money for Polaris! For every $100 spent using a grocery card, Polaris receives $5. These small increments add up and result in donations to our school that don't come out of your pocket! Grab extra cards to give to grandparents, aunts/uncles, and friends to spend at participating stores (King Soopers, Safeway) and their gas stations. Electives Kickoff
The Electives Program is revving up for another exciting year of programming. Volunteers are needed to teach or assist on Friday afternoons: September 14, 21, 28 & October 5 and 12.
New families: Electives offer a wonderful opportunity to get to know our school. Some ways to get involved:

  • Propose and develop your idea for a new elective class
  • Teach from one of our existing curricula
  • Assist in your child’s elective class
  • Consider financially sponsoring an elective with one of our visiting teachers from the community.

Community Projects and Products

Save Those Picture Frames
New art display coming to Polaris! This year Ms. Rogers will be cultivating a new student art gallery wall. She is looking to collect picture frames (MINIMAL size of 12"x12") and needs just the frame - no glass or backing/matting. Frames will permanently hang in the foyer, and student art will rotate so that every Polaris student will have their art displayed at one point during the year.

Polaris Parent Night Out  
Introducing Polaris Parent Night Out. These are opportunities for one or both parents to come and mingle with other Polaris parents at a neighborhood establishment, and truly build a COMMUNITY. Our first is August 30th @ Horseshoe Lounge, 414 E 20th Ave, 7-9:00 pm after Curriculum night.

Polaris Dads Club
Calling all Dads! Let's have some FUN..and raise some FUNds for our school in the process. Every other month Frankie Newman, the Polaris PTO Social Chair, will organize a dads-only event. Examples include: poker night, pool tournament, corn hole tournament, bowling night, or socializing at a local establishment. There's a nominal fee ($20-$40) to participate in the event, and all monies go to the Polaris PTO to support our kids. Have ideas? polarisptosocial@gmail.com

Did You Know?

Before and After School Enrichment 
Polaris offers a wide variety of before-and-after school enrichment opportunities, some taught by our own wonderful teachers. To view the weekly schedule, learn more about what is offered, and register for classes please visit the Polaris website. Registration for the fall 2108 semester opens Monday, August 27th and classes begin the week of September 10th, 2018. Click here for schedule.

Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run inspires girls to a lifetime of self-respect and a healthy lifestyle through an innovative program that combines training for a 3.1 mile run/walk race with a fun, health education lesson plan. We will meet Monday and Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:00 pm after school. Open to all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade girls. Registration is open August 13th through September 5th, starts Sept 10th.
