School Experience Survey

The School Experience Survey is an annual survey administered to all LAUSD schools. The survey reports give each school important insight into what staff, students and parents think about their school's learning environment.  The 2017-2018 School Experience Survey window is now open. The window will remain open through Friday, November 17th. Students, parents and staff can take the surveys online, or parents can complete a paper survey, which is being sent home this week with the oldest child in your family.  Students in 4th and 5th grades will be taking the survey in class with their teachers.

We would like 100% parent participation.  If we get 100% parent participation, we will get $2,000 from our Local District!  We use this information to make decisions for our school.  Thank you in advance.

Spirit Book
Thank you so much to all of the creative students who submitted poems, comics, recipes, stories, and drawings for the new Spirit Book project!  In order to give our students additional time to create and edit this amazing book, we’ve extended the deadline for submissions through January 31st.  Your submission can be Colfax-themed or can be about anything that interests you (cooking, art, sports or hobbies…) Please use the available templates (located in the Spirit Book bin in the front office) for your 1-2 page submission, or submit your work (preferably typed) on portrait-oriented white typing/copy paper. Please avoid pencil and use pen or markers instead. Colorful illustrations are encouraged!

Annual Giving - Help us reach our goal!

Why Give to Annual Giving?

  • We give because a public school education is free, but an enriched education is not.
  • Your donations help ensure we can continue to pay for classroom AIDES, Art Teacher, Science Aide, Colfax Farm, Field Trips, Suzuki Violin and Technology.
  • When applying for grants foundations like to see a high percentage of participation by parents in donations and volunteerism.  If we can tell foundations that we have 100% participation in parent donations, we may be eligible for more funding.

As of today we have achieved 47.5% participation, that is 249 families out of 524. We understand that not all families are able to donate the $800 per student, but we urge you to give what you can! Whether that is $10, $50 or more than the ask.  Each and every donation is meaningful and counts towards participation!

Looking Ahead - Save The Date!

Please mark your calendars with the following dates:

  • 11/20-24 Thanksgiving Break
  • 11/27 Coffee and Conversation
  • 11/27 Toy Drive Kickoff

Please make sure that you refer to the calendar on our school website (http://www.colfaxcharter-lausd-ca.schoolloop.com) for updates and new items! And friend us on Facebook (Colfax Charter) to receive up-to-the minute news and photos.
