Annual Giving - Help us reach our goal!

We did it!  We made our goal of 250 donations by 09/30/17 to get Dr. To’s $2,500 donation.  Congrats everyone!

Now let's try and make 100% participation.
We are currently at 36.2% overall participation.

Last week we kicked off The Annual Giving Battery
Each grade will compete to win highest participation!  Look for the chart on your classroom door this week!

Current standings are as follows:

Walk to School Wednesday

Wednesday, October 4

Looking for a way to fit some exercise into your daily routine and spend some more quality time with your kids, all while doing something good for our environment? Then do we have the solution for you! Starting this Wednesday, October 4th,  we will hold our annual kick off of “Walk to school Wednesday”.  Walk to school this Wednesday and earn your official “I walked to school” sticker.  We encourage families to walk to school not just this Wednesday but every Wednesday.

LSLC

Thursday, October 5 at 2:45 p.m. in Room 20.

Colfax is an LAUSD Affiliated Charter School governed by the Colfax Charter Local School Leadership Council (LSLC). The LSLC addresses all issues big and small regarding the Colfax learning environment, student achievement, hiring, budget, policies, programs, procedures, and parental involvement. The meetings are open to the public. Attendance is welcomed and encouraged.

Check out the agenda here.  All are welcome to attend!

Career Day

Friday, October 6th marks Career Day at Colfax.  25 parents join us to present a wide variety of careers, inspiring and engaging the students.  From an airline pilot to a cake designer, from a neonatal nurse to a courtroom judge, students will have a chance to learn about a multitude of options as they move forward towards College and Career Readiness.

Since we are preparing our students to be College and Career Ready, we will have college and career spirit day on Friday also!  Students are encouraged to wear clothes inspired by the career they would like be or the college they would like to go to (or that their parents went to)!  Please no Halloween costumes.

Illness Protocol

As you know, student and staff safety is our number one concern.  This weekend, District staff has taken even greater precaution in coming into Colfax to deep clean classrooms and restrooms that may have been impacted.  Know that we are taking student health and safety extremely seriously and working closely with District staff and the County of Los Angeles Public Health Department.

As we reminded you last week, while student attendance is extremely important, but please do not send your child to school if they are sick.  Please take the opportunity to discuss handwashing and germ prevention practices with your children at home.  If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Friedman at school.

Colfax Party Book

Our 'Colfax families only' theme parties are a fun way to build our community while raising money for our school.  Hosts donate EVERYTHING that goes into the party, tickets can only be purchased by Colfax families and all the money raised goes straight back to the classrooms.  If you love to entertain or throw a great party then perhaps you will consider hosting one. Themes are endless - fitness/sports related, activities for kids, food experiences or even lessons - the sky's the limit.  We want to hear from you!  Email  ericalong@mac.com for more information.

There are still spots left to some of these amazing events already planned!  Go through our Party Book link to get your tickets now!! TIP:  You can also use this link to check details of a party you already bought tickets to last year!

This Week at PEAK
