Ready. Set. RUN!
In our email last week, we announced the launch of the PTSA’s one fundraiser of the year to fund our ongoing activities, programs and events. As of today, we have raised over $26,000. Thank you for your generosity!
We aren’t done yet! Our goal is to raise $60,000.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to donate yet, don’t delay! Donate online today using the link below.
For those who have already donated, thank you! Please consider extending your impact further:
- Submit your donation for company matching
- Invite family and friends to participate in the fundraiser. Forward this newsletter and your link above. The funds they donate will automatically be donated in your student’s name.
The Fun Run isn’t just a fundraiser. It's also an event for all our students to show their Peter Kirk pride!
On September 29th, each student will receive a new 2017 Peter Kirk t-shirt and will go outside to run around the field (rain or shine). Parents are welcome to attend and cheer their students on.
- Grades K, 1, and 2 run from 9:45-10:15am.
- Grades 3, 4, and 5 run from 10:20-11am.
Please consider volunteering to make this event a day the kids will not forget! Sign up below.

Watch D.O.G.S. Pizza Night
Fathers and Father-Figures: Do you want to become a Watchdog this year? Watch D.O.G.S. is a fun and helpful way for dads, uncles, grandpas and other father-figures to get involved at Peter Kirk.
On Thursday, September 28th, join us at the school for pizza with your student(s) and a brief presentation about the program. Please bring $10 cash to contribute for pizza. Those who attend will have the first opportunity to get their desired Watch D.O.G.S. date(s)! Please RSVP within the Signup link below so we can have a rough count for food.
Those who can't make the kick-off will have a chance to sign up on October 4th. Scheduling will all be done online this year through MySchoolAnywhere Signups.
Thanks to Geoff Lecovin and Steve Squillace for stepping up as Top Dog Coordinators! For more information on the program, visit our Watch D.O.G.S. page below.

On Your Mark, Get Set, RUN!
The Fourth Annual Eagles Marathon kicks off on October 2nd. Students in all grades can run, walk, skip or jump their way to 26.2 miles over the course of 7 weeks. Running takes place at lunch recess every day except Wednesdays.
We are asking parents to please get involved by encouraging your child from home. Ask if he/she is participating, monitor progress, and if possible come out to cheer and/or run with your child. Challenge your child to see if he/she can run more miles or laps each week than the week before.
Parent volunteers will be needed daily. This is an easy and fast way to get involved. Sign up through MySchoolAnywhere below
Peter Kirk Chorus First Rehearsal
The Peter Kirk Chorus will have its first rehearsal on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd from 3:20-4:00 p.m. in the Music Room. Chorus is for 4th and 5th grade students who like to sing and perform. They meet every Tuesday at the above time from October through March, except for conference weeks.
Information letters with permission slips are being distributed in music class this week and next. All interested students should get a chorus letter from Ms. Peterson, return it signed by a parent or guardian, and come to the first rehearsal on October 3rd.
Chorus is capped at 70 students. If more than 70 students show up on October 3rd, then all 5th grade students will be accepted, but there will be a drawing for the remaining 4th grade slots. Students who are on patrol that day should fulfill their patrol duties and then come to rehearsal.
Questions? E-mail Ms. Peterson
Mark your calendars and plan to walk (or wheel) to school with your kids on October 4th. We’ll be celebrating the benefits of walking with a few fun activities before the first bell.
We would love some help setting up, and running activities. If you are able to help signup below.
See you there!
Mrs. Miller is our school’s new Peter Kirk counselor! She will be featured in our newsletter regularly bringing resources and insights to us parents. We can’t wait to see what is to come!
This month read her "Counselor Chat" to learn more about her philosophy and background. In addition, read Success at School Begins at Home to help you and your student(s) make a great start to the school year!
Success Begins at Home
If you missed our General Membership Meeting last week, Stephanie Lecovin (a Peter Kirk parent and Registered Dietitian) lead a great discussion about different strategies to build healthy school lunches our kids will eat. Check out the flyer below for her tips and healthy suggestions!

Volunteer Signups will happen through MySchooolAnywhere (MSA) instead of Signup Genius. MSA works a bit differently. We cannot send a direct link to a given event. Instead, you need to select the event in which you are interested in the SIGNUP section of MSA. From there, you can see the list of needs and sign up. The system will email you a reminder before the event, but you can also see what you are committed to anytime on your mobile app by selecting SignUps, Your SignUps.
