Middle School Info Night

MIDDLE SCHOOL INFO NIGHT

FOR COLFAX AND CARPENTER PARENTS

Open House-Style Information Sessions

Tuesday,  September 19,  5:00-7:00 PM

On the Carpenter campus, at the Lunch Tables

Are you the parent of a 5th grader trying to figure out where your child will go to school next year?  Or maybe you have a 4th grader and you’re trying to get a head start on your search?  Please come to our parent-to-parent information exchange!   Have casual conversations with fellow Colfax and Carpenter parents who went through this process within the last few years.  For the most part, they are not official representatives of the schools, but will share with you anecdotal information about their journeys to find the right school and program for their children, and their middle school experiences.

  • The goal of this event is to help you recognize the best middle school or MS program for your child.  Living in the Studio City area, we are lucky to have an incredible amount of choice for middle schools – public and private.   But so many options may feel overwhelming.
  • By having these conversations, we hope we help you plan a course for the admissions processes and begin to narrow the choices on your journey to find the best fit for your child and family.
  • Ask about admissions, entrance exams, essays, and interviews.
  • Ask about academic programs, philosophies, and academic support tools and programs.
  • Ask about student activities, athletic programs, after school programs or whatever information will help your family decide which schools and programs to explore further.
  • Each table will host a conversation about a different school or program – visit as many as you’d like.
  • Special table for “Student Perspectives” – ask current MS students about homework, activities, etc.

Thursday, September 21 is an unassigned day and school will be closed.

Annual Giving

A public education is free; an enriched one is not”

Annual Giving is our second biggest fundraiser for the year.  This is where we ask all parents to voluntarily donate what they can afford towards programs here at Colfax like art, violin, technology, science lab, the farm and classroom aides.  We ask $800 per student to fund the enriched education our children are receiving.  We understand that not all families are able to donate the $800 per student, but we urge you to give what you can. Each donation is meaningful!

SPECIAL INCENTIVE ALERT FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER!!!!
Dr. To’s challenge:  If we receive 250 donations by the end of Sept – she will donate $2,500 to Colfax!   We have extended the coupon book from our sponsors as well.  If you donate by September 30th you will get the coupon book and be helping us reach our goal of 250 donations!

Please complete and return the Annual Giving form that went home in your child's backpack to pay by check
or log onto:
https://501auctions.com/pace and donate online!

Don't forget about corporate matching gifts and friends, neighbors, grandparents can donate too!
